About Emily

reflexology livingston 21:2:13I have always had an interest in the body, health and fitness.  My interest in reflexology started in my teens when I came across a book on the subject.  Reflexology appealed to me because it is a manual therapy, which aims to balance the systems of the body, to promote vitality and well-being.

I believe that all our bodies strive to be healthy, energetic and full of life, but sometimes our systems can be knocked off-balance.  This can impact on areas such as our mood, energy levels, sleep and mental clarity.  It can also lead us to feel ‘below par’, or become prone to particular ailments.

Prior to studying reflexology, I completed an honours degree in Physiology and Sports Science, followed by a Masters degree in Physiotherapy.  I worked for several years as a physiotherapist in the NHS, and in a private, sports-injuries clinic.  Throughout this time I always kept a background interest in reflexology, often reading on the subject and trying some techniques on myself.

Although I always enjoyed my work as a Physiotherapist, I felt a strong urge to practice more specifically as a manual therapist.  I also wanted to be able to use manual therapy to help my clients feel better in themselves, through stimulating relaxation and balance within the body, in addition to aiding recovery from specific injuries or conditions.

The opportunity arose whilst I was on a career break having a family.  Whilst my two sons were still young, I seized the chance to follow my passion for reflexology and began my studies.  I gained my Diploma from the International Institute of Reflexology in 2012 and quickly built up a thriving practice.

Now, with a decade of reflexology practice under my belt, I continue to be inspired on a daily basis by the beneficial outcomes that my clients report and the effectiveness of this fascinating field.   I work with people with a wide range of health goals and enjoy tailoring the treatment to each individual’s needs.  As a member of the Association of Reflexologists, I am committed to providing the most effective reflexology treatment I can, and regularly partake in continuing professional development activities to advance my knowledge and skills.
